Higuain Still Wants Arsenal Move, According To Madrid’s ‘Mouthpiece’

By on July 12, 2013

With all the rumours concerning Luis Suarez flying about, talk of Gonzalo Higuain has quietened down somewhat in recent days. However, he was back in the news over in Spain today with newspaper Marca claiming that the striker is still looking to leave for Arsenal despite Real Madrid wanting him to remain at the Bernabeu.

You should know the story by now. We were reportedly close to sealing a £23m deal for Higuain last week when Madrid upped the ante at the last minute, demanding we paid nearer £27m. We backed off and have since switched our focus to Luis Suarez, leaving Higuain’s future up in the air.

Marca – who are known to have close ties with Madrid and are regularly called the clubs ‘mouthpiece’ – claim that new Real boss Carlo Ancelotti is happy for the striker to remain in the Spanish capital and fight for his place, but the player is understood to be adamant he want’s to leave in search of a new challenge and is keen to move to the Emirates having held positive talks with the club.

When a player is determined to leave, it’s rare they don’t get their way, so the signs are that Higuain is still very-much on the market. The only problem being that Marca claim that Madrid are still demanding £27m for his services. So unless Arsene Wenger is prepared to up his bid, we’re still stuck in limbo.

Although the Spaniards have just splashed out over £30m to sign midfielder Asier Illarramendi from Real Sociedad, so there is a chance they may now be prepared to lower their expectations in order to get some money in and balance the books.

Perhaps Madrid have seen us step up our interest in Suarez and have now ‘leaked’ this story of Higuain still wanting to leave to Marca to get our attention again?

Whatever happens, I just hope we hurry up and get something done quickly. If we really want Higuain, just go all-out and get a deal done. If Suarez is our No.1 target, then do all we can to make it happen. No more messing about, just go hard for your targets and pay the going rate. We expect clubs to pay top whack, so we can’t complain when clubs do it to us. If Adebarndoor was worth £25m, Higuain is most certainly worth £27m!

Arsenal do not need a leak from a newspaper to know what Higuain wants and why. They can just call him. They have been speaking to him directly. Odd journalism.

He is still an absolute steal for £27m
I would love to see him in the Arsenal shirt and be DISGUSTED to see Suarez in an Arsenal shirt.
    THINK STRAIGHT WENGER
In a poll the other day it was 50/50 on Arsenal fans who want Suarez and the 50% that said yes only said it because they are getting desperate

Multiple speculations about Arsenal’s proposed signings, all lies, thrown about by Arsenal top brass of Kroenke,Gazidis and Wenger. All lies to keep Arsenal fans quiet and expectant.Their £70m can only buy Sanogo and he has been sealed Expect more signings to your disappointment.Wenger and Gazidis are unrepentant liars,Kroenke can never let off £70m go on players.Stop the deceit,I certainly do not believe these liars anymore, come to think of it,did Wenger tell us categorically he was signing?

I agree with you 100%. It’s all lies the same as they do every season. The rumours linking us to payers are released by the clever media machine in the back offices of arsenal.
Wringer talks bubbles when he is asked about signings and talks about secrets in the transfer market etc this is a load of crap. If you ask the other managers a question about a potential signing they simply say yes or no and some even go on to appease the fans more by saying yes we are trying to sign such & such we are in talks with such club or player and we want to strengthen these areas. The only shit AW spews is cleverly designed to make fans think did he mean this or or did He mean that.

Until we wake up and realise he loves playing these games with us AFC will remain in a state of limbo. And has anyone else noticed mr diaby still ha his squad number, I mentioned this before and I’ll sat it again he will throw the same crap about diaby being like a new signing come start of football season so no felaini for sure.
It’s not just wenger, gazidis kroenke they are all involved In Duping the fans every season

Stop dreaming and hoping because these are the reasons they can screw us fans over every year

I have been thinking that if Wenger wanted Rooney and Higuain, then he actually wanted two strikers and not one. Why not go for both Suarez and Higuain because the latter is an all and out striker and the former operates as a second striker. If you get both and then buy a defensive midfielder, get a right back if Sanga is leaving, get Ashley Williams and a goalkeeper, we will be okay. But these are just my observations. Am waiting for transfers to happen but am very pessimistic.

Yes, just pay the $27 million, and when they say see how desperate we are they’ll raise it to $30, no problem just pay it, oh wait it’s now $33 million, doesn’t matter just get the deal done! I wonder how many of these bloggers have had more than 50 quid to play around with

I don’t for a second believe Madrid raised the fee. Has wenger or arsenal even come out and said we tried signing him but they raises the few at the last minute??? This is because wenger was never serious about buying higuain in the 1st place, it was just smoke and mirrors to get arsenal fans excited and then make it look like Madrid and Perez are messing us around. I mean think about it logically if Perez can come on a tv show and say arsenal haven’t even bid for higuain there not serious about buying him which can only translate to what I said above they were just fooling us fans as they usually do. But even so if you we’re accused of what Perez said or Amy other club then the manager would come out and give their own version to defend themselves if they indeed were truly trying to buy the player. But no1 from arsenal has commented and you won’t hear it either because its all part of a big game plan

It is frustrating being an Arsenal fan, but why people get so surprised is beyond me. (it’s the same every year after all !)
Nobody actually knows what is going on aside from the selling club and the buying club, the media do what the media do..IE stir it up to sell papers and get clicks.
I actually think the Hinguain deal will happen, Wenger is nothing if not a shrewd business man. Why are no other clubs interested ?… I think it’s because it’s pretty much a done deal, the player wants to leave Real for Arsenal, Real want more money for him and are tying up signings or incoming players, Wenger will wait to get his man at the right price ! (just a shame it hasn’t happened sooner so he could go on tour !)

Undeserved credit you are trying to give wenger. I agree whole heartedly He is shrewd but not in getting players for arsenal more in the context of fooling the fans every transfer window.
I mean what makes you AKB’s think this season is any different????
Didn’t we have a war chest last season, even the season before that and beyond. As far as I remember we’ve had a war chest for the last 8 seasons and it wasn’t the fans who made it up it was AFC who said it themselves. But when were the war chests ever opened or put to use??? The only money spent was from players we sold for a lot and bought mediocre for less

What really pisses me off, is that Wenger apparently controls all things player related and even when he is given someone else’s money to spend he treats it as though it were in his own little miserly wallet.

Weger is a smart economit. They said 70mn in Wengers pocket but no thing paid in 8 wks.Doubtlessly he e-depost the money to be loved by the share holders, burning the fans’ mind!! Any way he we collect 4 or 5 like players like Santos for 20 mln pouds. smart Economist. Hail to him. Arsenal will not progress unless they getrid of Wnger an try chnace with new manager with new vison to win trophies.NOT new economist.

Hi fellow gunners we are all frustrated at what is going on at our club lack of transfer activity but I believe the club wants to clean the squad out completely first of the deadwood then we will start to see signings coming in one after another keep the faith my fellow goners this will be a season to remember

      July 12, 2013 at 3:58 pm

Seriously? so Wenger should stay back and complete signings instead of preparing the team he has for next season? A deal can be completed with oar without the managers presence.

Arsenal and Arsene are just confused,it was jovetic, den Higuain,Fellaini,Rooney,Bender,Grenier,Cesar,Febregas, now Suarez, its all a lie, other medioca clubs are getting things done, why can’t we,he’s bought Yaya Sanogo, that’s how good its gonna get,the board or Wenger should stop deceiving us,if you av 70m,ow much is 27m for a proven goal scorer like Gonzalo something we obviously lack and don’t forget a world class goalie in Julio cesar is less than 5m,so why waste time. He’s gonna get a Kondogbia or a Musampa soon and say they would be stars for the future, its just so painfull for us fans right now
