Reports – Arsenal Set To Table Improved £35m Bid For Luis Suarez

By on July 10, 2013

According to reports this afternoon, Arsenal are preparing a new and improved £35million offer for Liverpool striker Luis Suarez after cooling our interest in Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain.

After apparently seeing our opening bid of £30m rejected last week, Goal claims Arsene Wenger will now press ahead with trying to land the controversial Uruguayan by making an improved £35m offer.

Wenger is understood to have switched focus to Suarez after struggling to agree a fee with Real Madrid for Gonzalo Higuain, with the Spaniards believed to have pulled the plug on a £23m deal last week after demanding we up our bid to £25m at the last minute.

The report claims we’re actively trying to sign a ‘marquee’ striker this summer and Suarez is now our No.1 target, with Wenger considering the Liverpool hitman a better bet than Higuain and is prepared to go the extra mile to land him.

After receiving the cold shoulder from the Merseysiders, it appears Arsenal’s hopes have been boosted with Goal suggesting the 26-year-old’s representatives have made it clear that the striker would be open to a move to north London this summer.

While I personally don’t consider Goal to be a hugely reliable source of information, many other more credible newspapers have also reported that our interest is genuine and that Arsene Wenger is prepared to pay big money to land Suarez this summer, so I really think there could be something in this.

Whether we’re able to meet Liverpool’s valuation or even persuade the striker to come to us is another story, but at least it shows the club is finally showing some ambition in the transfer market.

Do you think there’s any chance we can sign Suarez? Would you want him?

You lot are a hoot, you offer buttons, then come back with…. well, just another button. Cheapskates, the lot of you, if he’s not going to win anything he may as well stay with us; at least he will be playing in front of fans who have never slagged him off.

ITS NOT A BUY OUT CLAUSE AT 40 MILLION.HE CAN DISCUSS A TRANSFER WITH ANYBODY IF THEY OFFER 40 MILLION BUT LIVERPOOL DONT HAVE TO ACCEPT 40 MILLION AND IN ALL LIKELEYHOOD WILL EXPECT A MINIMUM OF 45 MILLION TO BE PAID.SO AS STEVE SAYS WHAT IS THE POINT IN OFFERING 35 MILLION IF THAT DOESNT EVEN LET YOU SPEAK TO THE GUY??

Suarez has to hand in a transfer request first and then maybe £35mil will get arsenal around the table.
Thats if we are really interested in suarez?
I have my doubts about this.

Arsenal Manager has always wasted lots of time pissing around like a chicken with his head cut off.
He’s stupid and needs replacing, they are doing LFC a favour since now anyone interested will have to start actually bidding, also ther is no release clause @ any price, be a leader not a sheep and check your facts!

suarez only put pen to paper on a new contract last year and runs to 2016 do you realy think Liverpool would be stupid enough not to put clause in his contract and protect themselves, just using logic realy

I think it will take around 40 million to get him. But arsenal can afford him with the rumor arsenal actually have 100 million and not 70. Suarez Cesc Fellaini and Cesar for around 95 mill not bad

I think Arsenal is trying to force Real’s hand. I bet the reason why Higuain is not moving yet is because they have not gotten a replacement. After Cavani, Suarez became the next logical choice. They aren’t willing to sell Higuain unless they got Suarez. That is the only reason why Wenger is offering much lower price than Suarez is worth. This way, Liverpool will never consider but it will get Real thinking, if they don’t sell Higuain now, it’s lose-lose for them. Wenger needs to know that his plan could backfire, if Real intends to include Higuain in a deal for Suarez. That would be the worst possible situation for Arsenal.
