Higuain Deal Stalls Due To Real Madrid’s Dirty Tactics

So it appears we know the reason why Gonzalo Higuain is not yet an Arsenal player: Real Madrid have moved the goal posts at the last minute.

Last Thursday, widespread reports suggested the Argentinean striker was all set to move to the Emirates after we agreed a £23m fee and the player was understood to be heading over to London on Friday to undergo his medical and discuss personal terms.

However, worrying news emerged on Friday from Spain with Real Madrid using their ‘mouthpiece’ Marca to claim that NO deal was close and it would take an offer in excess of £23m to persuade the La Liga giants into selling. Nobody really knew what to make of it all but Arsenal fans were not happy.

Today, journalist Sid Lowe has revealed on ESPN that a deal WAS in place but Madrid decided to up the stakes at the last minute and demand more money from us. They let the deal get so close it’s almost impossible for Arsenal to back out, so they have attempted to squeeze a few extra million out of us (£2.5m if you believe what you read on Twitter). A very dirty negotiating tactic, but are we surprised? This is Real Madrid after all.

Lowe is still confident a deal will be completed in the end, but it seems we may have to dig a little deeper if we want to land Higuain. For me, £23m was a steal and if we have to pay £26m, we’ll still be getting a great deal if you compare it to the prices other players are being touted around at this summer.

Even if you compare it to the £25m we got for Adebayor, paying a similar fee for Higuain looks like the bargain of the fricken century! With the likes of Man City, Napoli, Atletico Madrid and Chelsea all on the look-out for a striker, I suggest we just pay an extra £2m or whatever it takes to get Higuain signed-up asap before another club comes in and pushes the price up even further.

Whether we like it or not, the selling club have the power and we’ve used this to our advantage in the past as well, so let’s get a deal done, sign Higuain up and move on to bringing in another couple of players of his caliber.

    There is no difference between Barca, Real Madrid or any other Spanish grease ball clubs. Barcelona owe Arsenal money for Song and we should demand payment in full. Two seasons ago they had to borrow 150 million euros to pay their players during the close season yet the same dirt bags are out buying players they can’t afford to pay wages to don’t mind pay millions for.The other “galectico” chasing bums at Real are bank rolled by the Spanish royal family! That says it all about a country whose people are broke and unemployed , idiots all,they deserve no sympathy. So much for fair play. Gimme a break.

      The reason they Bacre and Real can get away with losing money and still buy players they clearly can’t afford is that they are both bank rolled by the Spanish government, who simply get the banks to write-off the debt.
      I for one am skeptical that the new financial doping rules will apply to these teams. Man City, Chelsea, PSG they are all going to cook the books so that their sugar daddies continue to pump money the clubs aren’t earning into the clubs. The Spanish will continue to find ways to quietly write-off Real and Barce debt

    I hope Wenger is learn how these greasy Spanish scumbags deal with transfers when you try to buy one of their players. Perhaps he will now take the same approach each and every season when Barcelona come tapping up one of our players they can’t even afford, and don’t even have the money to pay. Funny how Platini and his puppets at EUFA turn a blind eye to these two Spanish clubs and their dirty dealings. Just imagine if it was English clubs, that scummy French turd would soon act then.

    They steal our best players and then don’t pay for them in full. So to try and cheat us once again is a spit in the face. I say F-uk them Arsene buy elsewhere.     I have a horrible feeling that Madrid know PSG or Chelsea are going to pay 45m+ for Cavani and Madrid know that Napoli will be shopping for a striker with lots of money to spend.

    As 4 me,ℓ̊ feel madrid are stalling us about higuain & ℓ̊ don’t know why?the issue is simple,if they don’t want to sell they should let us know so we will have to look elsewhere instead of extorting money from us in the name of transfer,the earlier the better..Gunners 4 ever

    I wonder what kind of transfer should we call this. Demanding for an additional money after you have given the permission to a player to speak to the interested club, this is total bullshit. Now we can all see reasons why this Higuain deal is yet to be completed since. Fuck madrid with their stupid static of dealings with this transfer. Anyway I don’t blame them. I hope arsene waste no time only on getting Higuain though. He should try get him asap if he still want & move on getting deal done for another quality players in mid field. I hope for the best comes next season

    For Godsake Arsene, just pay that damn 2M extra!!
    Arsene should realise that he’s not in position to steer this deal. We are step ahead from other competitor like PSG, Chelsea, and City (I just concern for moneybags and high reputation clubs) who didn’t show their interest. Not yet. But the situation can change very fast. Chelsea reported to miss Cavani, who claim by Napoli is gonna be PSG’s.
    City is busying with Negredo now, but it’s no deal yet. I guess Arsene confidence to play his wheeler dealer stuff because Gonzo allready made close contact on his personal term and physical test. But i’m worry that Arsene will push our luck too much. Most gooners can’t forgive him if that’s really happen only because the damn 2-3M pounds extra.
