Higuain Deal Stalls Due To Real Madrid’s Dirty Tactics

By on July 6, 2013

So it appears we know the reason why Gonzalo Higuain is not yet an Arsenal player: Real Madrid have moved the goal posts at the last minute.

Last Thursday, widespread reports suggested the Argentinean striker was all set to move to the Emirates after we agreed a £23m fee and the player was understood to be heading over to London on Friday to undergo his medical and discuss personal terms.

However, worrying news emerged on Friday from Spain with Real Madrid using their ‘mouthpiece’ Marca to claim that NO deal was close and it would take an offer in excess of £23m to persuade the La Liga giants into selling. Nobody really knew what to make of it all but Arsenal fans were not happy.

Today, journalist Sid Lowe has revealed on ESPN that a deal WAS in place but Madrid decided to up the stakes at the last minute and demand more money from us. They let the deal get so close it’s almost impossible for Arsenal to back out, so they have attempted to squeeze a few extra million out of us (£2.5m if you believe what you read on Twitter). A very dirty negotiating tactic, but are we surprised? This is Real Madrid after all.

Lowe is still confident a deal will be completed in the end, but it seems we may have to dig a little deeper if we want to land Higuain. For me, £23m was a steal and if we have to pay £26m, we’ll still be getting a great deal if you compare it to the prices other players are being touted around at this summer.

Even if you compare it to the £25m we got for Adebayor, paying a similar fee for Higuain looks like the bargain of the fricken century! With the likes of Man City, Napoli, Atletico Madrid and Chelsea all on the look-out for a striker, I suggest we just pay an extra £2m or whatever it takes to get Higuain signed-up asap before another club comes in and pushes the price up even further.

Whether we like it or not, the selling club have the power and we’ve used this to our advantage in the past as well, so let’s get a deal done, sign Higuain up and move on to bringing in another couple of players of his caliber.

Would you pay the extra couple of million for Higuain? Or would you tell Madrid to shove it?

Real were Franco’s club. I say no more except Viva Barcelona and Viva the Gunners who both represent something a little better. If you believe karma always showw it’s face, then expect us to thrash them in the Champions League. Real Madrid are just an arrogant narcissistic setup and some would say that what they have done is par for the course. Just support Barca.

It’s over a month now that talks on this deal has rent the air, and frustratingly still noconclussion yet. Juventus was in for Higuian with Arsenal, but at some point backed out and focused on an alternative. within days Juventus was able to rap it up and moved on to another thing in thier preparation for the impending season. Do we continue to dilly-dally on Higuain the whole summer? This man is not the only striker on planet earth, for goodness sake! Situations like this puts Arsenal at public ridicule, and it’s kind of becoming of us. If wenger wants Higuain at all cost, he should be ready to sign him at all cost. Else, focus on other options before qualities are soon grabbed off your reach by othert serious clubs. Otherwise, Wenger will soon begin to come up with usual defences/excuses that there are no much qualities around to splash the cash on. Give Madrid their request and get your man once and for all.

But why do we always struggle to sign players. If Wenger has the reason to believe that Higuain is good enough a player for Arsenal , why is he wasting time ? Let him pay Madrid what they want and get his man, period. If we can’t refrain from this money pinching attitude of us, I foresee another barren season again for us.

I really do hate Madrid and Barcelona , they use dirty tactics when they want to buy a player and I’ve just about had enough of them , I’m going to write them a very sternly worded email and express what a bunch of ruddy unpleasant rascals I think they are

Delay is dengerous.we are lucky that Man-City, Monaco or PSG hasnt come in,if they do we ‘ll either lose him or we pay higher, Spurs rejected 90million for Bale, Cavani is going for 54million just to mention but a few,Madrid is playing this game to see if another club will show intrest.

Arsene is most likely to back-off with his pessimistic economic behavior mind u Higuain has no EPL experience.Take instances of Arshavin,Giroud& Pod,all these guys were red hot b4joining us,they have all underperformed,Wenger might not take on this deal if Madrid continue playing dirty

You guys shouldn’t get frustrated by what is happening with Higuain’s transfer.Wenger doesn’t really mean to part with such sum.Even if he had 250 pounds,Wenger would still remain stingy. This is a useless situation,I do not even know whether to pray.I only pity other fans like me.This is completely crazy.

£250m transfer war chest can not change Wenger’s attitude.Arsenal fans in London and indeed the UK has a lot to do to force this transfer, unfortunately, these fans in my opinion are extremely docile.

Even with Higuain silverwares are not guaranteed…so why waste so much time on a single player…is he God himself?. If Mr Wenger does not feel his is worth a penny more than 23m, then let him go for others whose qualities and values match his rating. I am sick of this protraction….why must it always be Arsenal…’quick to sell but slow to buy’…it’s sheer greed!

Whatever you have said in this article is the truth, pay the money and take Higuain this is a world class striker we have been waiting for a while, and learn how other clubs do the business next when we are selling our top players we don’t just give. GUNNERZ 4 LIFE.

If i had the extra 2.5m I’d give it to Wenger and say “go get him”.
I’ve been saying since day one just pay the full 25.5m they want and blo Juventus out of the water and we are still pissing about.
£25.5m is a totally reasonable price ( F***ING BARGAIN IN FACT ) for a player of such quality

Dont understand why people here can say Madrid plays dirty and are tricky with the deal. Higuain is a quality striker and try finding an alternative that is better for that price!? Why shouldnt Madrid want more cash when every other club overprice their players when dealing with em!? Why should they pay high prices and sell cheap!? Higuain is worth atleast 35-40 mill, when you look at the current prices of footballers! So stop crying and pay the f**k up or find a better and cheaper option if you can!

I’m not sure what Ledwondoski’s situation is, but if he hasn’t signed a pre contract with Bayern, we should put a 20m bid and see if Dortmund bite. Getting 20m for a player who can leave on a free at the end of the season may look like good business to them…. Like it did to us
