Report – Arsenal & Liverpool ‘In Talks’ With Spurs Target David Villa

By on July 4, 2013

Could we be about to hijack Tottenham’s move for David Villa? Well according to reports coming out of Spain today, it’s a distinct possibility.

A number of media outlets claimed earlier in the week that Villa to Spurs was a ‘done deal’ and it only seemed a matter of time until he would be revealed on TottenhamHotspur.com as their player. However, the hours and days have passed and still we await any official announcement.

Now it appears the proposed move to White Hart Lane is further away than first thought as Spanish publication ‘Sport‘ are claiming that the 31-year-old is in talks with not one, but two, of Tottenham’s Premier League rivals with both Arsenal AND Liverpool understood to be in negotiations with the prolific hitman.

The newspaper also suggests that Barcelona may try and use Villa as a bargaining chip in their pursuit of Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney, but no official approach has been made yet.

Villa is understood to be mulling things over and is yet to make his mind up over his next move, but it appears Arsenal are still very-much in the hunt for the veteran striker (if you believe ‘Sports‘ report) despite the imminent arrival of Gonzalo Higuain.

As most Arsenal fans will remember, we were heavily linked with Villa in the January window and reports claimed we had a deal agreed until Tito Vilanova blocked the move at the last minute. While it’s clear we’re in for Higuain this summer, it’s still believable that Arsene Wenger may want to sign another striker as well, such is our lack of depth in that area.

Who knows if Sports report is accurate or not, but personally I’d love us to bring in Villa along with Higuain. Not only would it potentially weaken our rivals, we’d also have an excellent variety of attacking options next season. Fingers crossed it will happen but if I was a betting man I’d still back him making the move to Spurs, unfortunately.

Seriously doubt he will go to Arsenal or Liverpool. I actually hope he goes to Spurs. He is a shadow of his formal self. I think it would still weaken your rivals if he went to spuds. He won’t score much more than a Dempsey or Defoe.

Sorry what is it exactly you have to shout about? The Europa league? Or maybe the fact your club is blowing what transfer funds it has managed to muster on a 31 year old? Lol.

I sincerely doubt that we would run with Higuain,Villa, Giroud and Sanogo. It may also be the case that Joel Campbell could be retained in the squad if he does well on the Asia tour. A 31 year- old with an injury history and no sell- on value is not Wenger’s style.

Mr Wenger will not employ players over the age of 30 YO on more than one year contracts. Villa wants at least two years.

Liverpool are most definitely not interested in someone who’ll be 32 in December. this is yet more poor journalism from the UK press who know full well Liverpool’s overage policy.

Talking absolute bs you mate. Spurs don’t even have a scouting system, they just rely on their premier league rivals to do it for them. I’ll tell you something, you Spurs fans have gotten incredibly big headed of late considering you’re a club with absolutely no history whatsoever and you’re not all that now either to be hones

we dont need villa now that we ve got higuian. all we now need is a holding midfielder who can break the oppositions play and i think luiz gustavo of bayern munich shd be that man Mr. Wenger must sign next.

I’m still hoping for fellaini to follow higuain for me that improves our first x1

However with the news that coquelin is going on loan I think wenger will go for another DM and I believe that.player will be capoue as he can also play CB so would be replacing Djourou as well. Then it will be just a matter of getting a new keeper and I think that will be patricio or cesar. I’m also convinced that wenger is preparing a plan b formation hence he may go for another striker.

Why would you want a player that just encourages the hoof it up the park tactics? Yeah he’s effective but £25 mil to get your team winning points from set pieces and humping it up to the boy with the sticky chest is what even I as a Spurs fan thought Arsenals style is all about.Buy him and if you get Higuain all you’ve really done is moved backwards 20 years imo

Watch this space for a signing soon to be a gooner. All I can say at this stage is that he has long hair and a beard. watch this space!!

The fact is Arsenal haven’t even signed Higuain and for all the talk about a £100 mil war chest at your disposal I’m pretty sure the only business you’ve done is a free transfer for some relatively unknown kid! At least Levy for all his problems has A.Put the mockers on Gareth Bale going out and B.Signed one of the best midfielders in Brazil (Big Phils words not mine)Also, anyone that is ready to write off David Villa is a moron. He would enhance any team. The geezer is an established sniper!

The completion of the Higuain Saga should NOW come to an end. He will join Arsenal!
The capture of Jovetic will be an icing to the cake, so to speak!

The Arsenal frontline in the attacking Gunners …… > in Podolski, Carzola, Higuain, Walcott, Jovetic is definitely mouth-watering isn’t it!!

Arsenal’s goal drought will be over and no need to bring in more attackers Yaya and Ox will be fully mature next season to impress the world. Hurry up Mr Wenger..

Not at all my friend. It will never ever happen.
Villa is a good scorer even faster than Higuin, but age wise and injury made him a bit blunt.
