Report – Higuain Move To Arsenal In Doubt

By on July 3, 2013

Another day and another apparent ‘twist’ in the Gonzalo Higuain to Arsenal saga with Goal reporting that the deal is now in doubt with the club failing to agree a fee for the striker with Real Madrid.

The report claims Arsenal chiefs flew out to Spain last month to hold official talks with Madrid and although no fee was agreed, there was enough confidence that a deal could be struck that the Spaniards gave us permission to negotiate with Higuain and his representatives.

Goal suggest we’ve since agreed terms with the player worth around £100,000-a-week and he now has his heart set on a move to the Emirates, but after weeks of further talks between the two clubs, a fee is yet to be agreed. Arsenal are apparently refusing to go higher than £21m, while Madrid are  demanding £25.5m.

A world class striker is a top priority for Arsene Wenger this summer and the impasse has forced him consider other targets – including Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney. A deal for Higuain remains more likely than being able to land Rooney, but it seems we’re going to have to push the boat out a little further if we’re to bring the Argentinean hitman to north London this summer.

Most fans will be shouting “just pay the f**king £25.5m Arsenal, stop being so tight!”, but big-money transfers like this take time and negotiations can be a long, drawn out affair. So we’re just going to have to sit tight and be patient. Sure, I’ll be gutted if we miss out because we refused to pay an extra million or two but hopefully it won’t come to that.

As ever, Arsenal Station will keep you up-to-date with any developments. I expect there will be several before anything official is announced!

Goal.com are about as reliable for football information as my cat. Latest reports are that Madrid have given permission for Arsenal to negotiate with the player which suggests a price has been agreed.

Dude keep up. The new rumour is already out. Madrid has allowed negotiations. If you are going to publish baseless rumours at least keep up.

I looks to me AFC have gone so long without effectively spending well for many years beyond a 4th place finish, let alone MARGINAL WORLD RANKING, they have transitioned to becoming GROSSLY INCOMPETENT.

If Wenger and his cronies can’t even get Gonzalo Higuain,+ at least CESAR, and one or two other marquee footballers [not Felliani], Arsenal FC will become an EPL embarrassment Worldwide, and deservedly so.

Having a beautiful football facility can only get you so far, and it’s the end of the road for that nonsense, especially considering there are more fans that can’t attend, than have that luxury.

Personally, quite simply I would be switching allegiance, at least until Wenger steps (and others) down or leaves.

DudeNoDude, you’re going to switch allegiance? Real supporters of a club don’t switch allegiance. You’re a typical “glory-hunter.” I’ll follow my club down to the bottom of english football if I had to. Arsenal are my club, always and forever. We don’t need “fans” like you. Go piss off, douchebag.

If by ‘I would be switching allegiance’ you mean you will go support another club then good riddance to you. The club obviously are not run according to your modus operandi so go and find one that is, try Man U, Chelsea or Man City if winning is all you are worried about.

Nothing can make me change my alligiance from my beloved arsenal. No other team in the world can earn my passion like arsenal but I wish wenger can conclude the signing of higuin on time + other necessary signing to strenthen our team. We must win a trophy by next season. I am not contended with top four every season. We are a big team in england & even in europe. We need to prove our worth. Gunner till I die!

Seriously do people not understand how a transfer work? Being allowed to talk to a player to agree terms has nothing whatsoever to do with agreeing a transfer fee. The player’s compensation is exclusive of the club’s fee and is just one of the processes of a transfer. The fact that Arsenal is allowed to talk to Higauin is a sign that Madrid is willing to sell but that does not mean a price has been negotiated. It just means that Marid is allowing Arsenal to reach personal terms with Higuain so that when/if a price is negotiated then there is no more time wasting in the legal process. If everyone had to wait for a transfer fee to be negotiated before being allowed to talk to a player then transfers would take far too long and waste too much of everyone’s time

People should stop getting worried. This is commonplace with transfers, even last season when fergie wanted to buy rvp, even though it was basically a done deal for £24m wenger was still playing hard ball with the fee. Higuain will be a gunner next season.

    Thanks a lot!
